Measurement Guide For Making Custom Salwar

Making your own salwar or getting a custom made salwar? Achieving a good fit depends on accurate body measurements.

How to Take Measurements for Custom Made Salwar?

  1. Have someone help you to take measurements.
  2. Use a Cloth measuring tape to take measurements.
  3. Make sure tape is held snug and taut (not tight) against the body.
  4. Record your measurements in inches.

Body Measurements for Custom Salwar

Following measurements are required to make your own salwar or have custom made salwar.

1. Waist - Measure around the body at natural waistline.
2. Lower Waist - Measure around the body, below the belly button (point where your salwar rests).

3. Hip - Measure around the body, at fullest part of hip approximately 7-9 inches (18cm-23cm) below the waist.

4. Hip Length - Measure the distance from the waist, to the full hip at side.
5. Thigh - Measure around fullest part of the upper leg.

6. Length -Measure from lower waist at side seam to ankle bone (desired length: with or without  wearing shoes).

7. Calf - Measure around fullest part of calf (just below knees).

8. Ankle - Measure width of salwar, at ankle (desired width at ankle).
